I think it was Warren Bennis who said, "Managers do things right; leaders do the right thing."

"Good afternoon, Mr. Strohacker, I know you like interesting stories so..."

Adam's mom stopped in to talk with me after school today.  Adam is a first grader at Christ, and he had a hockey game yesterday morning (Sunday).  We've got a wonderful rink in town, and the hockey league for all ages has really taken off the past few years so the rink is heavily booked.

Anyway, Adam had a game on Sunday morning, and his mom told him that he couldn't go to the game because he had Sunday School and, he also was singing with his class during the late service.  No problem.  No argument from Adam either.  Adam's mom was doing the right thing, and Adam knew it was important to do the right thing, too.

Sunday School had a special activity planned yesterday, a brunch for the kids and their parents - then they worked together, parents and children, on Valentines for Veterans.  Neat stuff.

Adam's mom dropped by this afternoon to tell me that Adam, who skipped his hockey game and came to church and Sunday School, was running around in the gym after Sunday School and fell...and broke his nose.

Sometimes doing the right thing can be painful.
