Apparently the economy isn't that bad after all.

When I returned after lunch to pick up my stuff and head for home, I found the church organist just packing up her things and getting ready to leave.
 
 

And, I love the language - "yah" "shooor" "youbetcha"  - something akin to living up in the Saginaw Valley and hanging around Frankenmuth a lot.

"Remember the year we spent most of the vacation motoring down around the bend to that reed bed because we kept finding schools of walleye just off there in about 12 feet of water?"

Lots of traditions have grown up over the years, one of which is awards, something I began about 15 years ago.  Largest fish, smallest fish, weirdest catch, best hand of cards, a traveling trophy with little plaques on it to keep track of the biggest game fish from each year's retreat.  And, of course, The Bozo Award.

A nice quiet end to this week, a week in which I had to visit with each faculty member and have 'that talk' about more structure, not less at the end of the school year, a peaceful Friday afternoon until...I hear screaming from the Boys' Restroom down the hall.  Isn't there an old Ray Stevens song about "The Day the Squirrel Came to Church"?  Well, today the chipmunk came to school...

Really, what I need is a good housekeeper who won't get on my nerves too much...

"Pretty good...for an 'old guy.'"  That's pretty much "my line" and has been for quite a few years.  My predecessor at Christ frequently answered the 'How you doin'?' question with:  "I was better...but I got over it." or "On a scale of 1 to 73, about a fourteen point..."

 

Spelling counts.  There are a couple of misspellings on the sign in the picture - a new sign that recently went up at our mall.  Look to where the arrow is pointing.  I'm sure they meant to say "banned" but they said "baned."

And "baned" is a word...

Two Stories - a long story and a short story.  I could have also titled this "Bathroom Humor."  But then you may not have read it...

It's important to acknowledge people, to give them appropriate recognition.  This photo opportunity caught my eye in Portage, IN.

All this healthful discussion took place while consuming an assortment of breakfast sandwiches, burritos, lots of Senior Coffees and, of course, Arnie's morning standard - a hot fudge sundae.
 

I don't like attending meetings - Voters meetings, Board meetings, Council meetings, you name it.  I saw this sign last year about this time, and I'm thinking that Presbyterians might be more fun than Lutherans.
