Expanding Your Vocabulary

We continue to be on the family fishing retreat in north central Minnesota.  That's pronounced "Minnie Soda" by the locals and also happens to be the name of a really neat old fashioned soda fountain in Park Rapids, MN, where we do our grocery shopping  Being up here for two weeks with Diane's family every other year has always been a wonderful time.  And, I love the language - "yah" "shooor" "youbetcha"  - something akin to living up in the Saginaw Valley and hanging around Frankenmuth a lot.

Anyway, your vocabulary lesson for today from north central Minniesoda:

Several trips back, our daughter, Jenny, decided to do morning jogs down the 7 miles of dirt road trail that leads back to lodge where we stay.  One evening her Uncle Bruce heard her talking about the next morning's run, and he asked her, "Hey Jen, do you know what the locals call jogging?"

Answer:  "Trolling for bears..."

I don't recall that she's done much jogging since that evening...
