Lake Memories

"This point is where Aunt Liz caught a walleye two years ago."

"Mom caught her record walleye when trolling across this bay in 1982.  We battled it until it was so dark we could barely see, and her reel kept slipping.  Boy was she angry when Dad said there 'was no drag to set on that reel' because he just gave her a cheap one from K-Mart.  "I didn't think she'd catch anything..."

"Remember the year we spent most of the vacation motoring down around the bend to that reed bed because we kept finding schools of walleye just off there in about 12 feet of water?"

"That was the year of the flood, and the road washed out...and we limited out on walleye nearly every day."

"They were biting on nightcrawlers that year instead of leeches..."

"Hello, Diane?  Yeah, I'm up here at the store, and I can't remember the third thing you told me to pick up.  There were five things?  Oh, yeah, what was it again that you wanted me to bring home?"

It's amazing how a guy can remember every detail of every fishing trip for the past 37 years...but can't recall what his wife told him ten minutes ago to bring home from the store.
