I guess that Friday the 13th is not only a day considered unlucky by some but also a day for a bit of mischief...

Our Music Director asked me this morning to check the 'political correctness' of the contents of a music book titled:  "Music In The Middle School" by Grace N. Nash....1973.  Oh my, I should have known this would be trouble.

The first song in the book is, "Put Some Love In Your Heart," certainly a wonderful thought for a Lutheran school.  Line one goes:  "Put some love in your heart, and sing a song that's gay..."  Yep, I'm sure that's as far as a middle schooler in March of 2009 will get before busting out laughing.  Can you see them all now elbowing one another and pointing out that line?  "Look, it says to sing a 'gay song!'"

Not done yet...

You can't make this up, there is another song in the book titled:

"Mexican Food And Tabasco Sauce"

And this song is followed directly by one titled:

"Hold The Wind!"
