Hayden, a 4-year-old Preschooler was just so cute today. She tracked me down first thing when she came in this afternoon - you just have to picture this absolutely beautiful little girl, eyes so big and round and sparkling, dressed in a colorful jumper and leggings, with that excitement that just can not be contained. Hopping up and down, arms pumping, just bursting with joy, the first day back after Christmas Break, she grabbed hold of me and said,
"Principal, you've got to come and see; you've got to come and see! I've got a new little brother, and he's just thiiiiiisssss big." She's holding her thumb and forefinger up to show me that she has them separated about a centimeter apart. "Just thiiiiissss big!"
Then she brought me over to the carrier, to meet Bradley - tiny, perfect, and all in blue. And while I sat in amazement looking at this new child, Hayden went off to gather more people: her teacher, my secretary, other moms dropping their kids off for Preschool, the Preschool Aide... Everyone had to gather in the hallway and meet Bradley - we had an impromptu birthday party! It was a wonder!!
I asked Hayden if she was helping at home with the baby, and she squealed, "Yessss!"
My secretary asked, "And Hayden, do you change Bradley's diaper?" Her eyes got really wide, and she spoke in a hushed whisper:
"No, my mom won't let me or my sister change him...because she doesn't want Bradley to pee on us." |
